If you’re looking to scale your coaching business in 2022, you can’t rely on Instagram and Facebook. While these platforms are great for building initial momentum, you need to build out a long-term SEO strategy if you want to sustainably grow your business. In this blog post, we’ll discuss the importance of search engine optimization (SEO) and how it can help you reach more customers and grow your business. We’ll also provide tips for getting started with SEO. So don’t wait – read on and start scaling your business today!
As a business owner, you know that social media is important. You probably have a Facebook page and an Instagram account (or at least you should). But what you might not realize is that relying on these platforms to grow your coaching business is a mistake. Sure, they can help you build initial momentum, but they’re not going to sustainably grow your business. That’s why you need to focus on search engine optimization (SEO). This article will also provide guidance for SEO beginners to help them understand the fundamentals and technical aspects of SEO.
Here’s why relying on platforms like Instagram and Facebook is NOT great for long-term growth:
You’re competing with the algorithm. The content that appears in a user’s feed is determined by an algorithm, not by you. This means that your content might not be seen by potential customers unless it’s truly engaging and disruptive.
The content is limited. On Instagram, you’re limited to posts with images or videos. And on Facebook, you’re limited to text-based posts (unless you pay to boost your post). This limits the types of content you can create and makes it difficult to stand out from the crowd.
It’s hard to track results. With social media, it’s difficult to track how effective your marketing efforts are. Did that post result in more sales? It’s tough to say for sure. With SEO, on the other hand, you can track your progress and see exactly how your efforts are paying off in Google Search results.
Now that we’ve discussed why Instagram and Facebook aren’t great for long-term business growth, let’s talk about SEO. Site speed is a crucial ranking factor in SEO, affecting both domain authority and user experience.
What is SEO marketing?
SEO is short for search engine optimization. It’s the process of optimizing your website and content, including technical SEO elements, so that it appears higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). This is important because appearing higher in SERPs means more people will see your content and be exposed to your brand. And when done correctly, SEO can help you sustainably grow your coaching business. A solid foundation of SEO knowledge is crucial for effectively implementing these strategies.
How does SEO Marketing work?
SEO marketing works by helping you improve your website so that it’s more visible to search engines using various SEO tools. This is done through a variety of methods, including:
Keyword research: Keyword research is the process of finding and using relevant keywords throughout your website. This helps search engines understand what your website is about and increases the chances that your content will appear in SERPs.
On-page optimization: Once you’ve identified the right keywords, you need to optimize your website for them. This includes things like adding keywords to titles and headings, using keyword-rich descriptions, and creating quality content that contains the keywords naturally.
It is also crucial to optimize web pages for better search engine rankings, as this can significantly impact your site’s visibility and user experience.
Link building: Link building is the process of getting other websites to link to yours.
Search Intent Versus Disruption
The goal is to create content that is based on search intent which means creating content for people who are actively searching for it and improving your search results. This could be in the form of blog posts, Youtube videos or Pinterest pins. The key is to create content that is helpful and answers the searcher’s question so they are more likely to convert into a coaching client.
Other search engines, like Google, maintain an archive of websites and web pages available on the web, and use automated search engine bots to continually search for new web page entries for indexing.
On the other hand, social media content should be disruptive because we are competing with the algorithm for attention. This means creating eye-catching images and videos that stop scrolling users in their tracks. The goal here is not necessarily to answer a searcher’s question but rather to get them interested in your brand so they will follow you and eventually become a coaching client.
Both types of content are important for growing your coaching business. But if you want to sustainably scale your business, you need to focus on SEO.

So how do you get started with SEO? Here are a few tips:
Start by doing thorough keyword research.
Keywords are the words and phrases that people use when they search for information online. By leveraging SEO knowledge to target the right keywords, you can ensure that your content is being seen by people who are interested in what you have to offer.
If you’re not sure where to start with keyword research, don’t worry – we can help. In our next blog post, we’ll discuss how to do keyword research for your coaching business. Stay tuned!
Optimize your website for search engines with technical SEO.
Search engines like Google use algorithms to determine which websites should appear in SERPs. To improve your chances of appearing higher in SERPs, make sure your website is optimized for search engines, including technical SEO elements. This includes things like using descriptive titles and metatags, having a mobile-friendly design, and including keyword-rich content.
Additionally, focusing on core web vitals is crucial for improving website performance. Although site speed may not drastically impact search engine rankings, it significantly enhances user experience and can influence conversion rates. Tools like Google’s Page Speed Insights can help measure and improve site speed.

Create high-quality content.
One of the most important aspects of SEO is creating high-quality content that’s relevant to your target audience using effective SEO tools. When creating content, be sure to keep your target audience and keywords in mind. This will help you create content that’s more likely to rank high in SERPs.
Additionally, optimizing web pages is crucial for better search engine rankings.
